Leslie Carr, DPT

My name is Leslie Carr, DPT — physical therapist at Ozzie Smith IMAC Regeneration Center in Monett, MO. I attended Missouri Southern State University to earn my bachelor’s degree in biology and then went on to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO for my doctorate in physical therapy.

I grew up in Southwest Missouri and you could say always lived around the 4-state area. My husband and I have been married for 6 years during which we caught the travel bug! Places we have explored include Germany, France, Czech Republic and I did a solo trip to Brazil. My husband went solo to 3 other countries during his Military career. Even though travel is a favorite pastime of ours the experiences always make us appreciate home a little more and led us back to Monett, Mo. Since having our son, currently one and a half, we have slowed down international travel. Instead we enjoy exploring closer to home which thankfully Missouri has a lot to offer. As a family you would see us out and about hiking, fishing and checking out the local museums/science centers.

My main interest in therapy is helping people. I love the experience being a physical therapist offers of getting to understand my patients goals and what their day looks like when not hindered by the reason they are currently in therapy. My work experience varies from work-injury rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, orthopedics, neurological conditions, vestibular/dizziness, chronic pain and pediatrics. What led me to the Ozzie Smith Center was the passion the organization has to bettering their patients as a whole… including mastering the most current techniques that provide patients with real, rapid results. I love the multi-disciplinary team model Ozzie Smith Centers offer in order to help each person in more than one facet.

I have a special place in my heart for working with kids. I knew this from early on thus sought out a Pediatric clinical where I learned under a Pediatric Specialist and went on to get many Pediatric continuing education certificates. I frequently get asked why a child or infant would go through therapy. I love getting this question as it opens discussion that most people, if not personally affected by childhood genetic or neuro diagnosis are not aware of what is involved. Other reasons for a physical therapy referral include infant torticollis and milestone delays. One thing I have learned during my 3 years of working with children is they are resilient and above all else love to PLAY! Which is what a lot of pediatric therapy involves, play with a purpose.

Outside of the clinic, most of our time is spent getting settled into our new home near Monett. We are thankful that our life led back to this area as we love all the things it has to offer. Including a great school system, growing businesses, family friendly activities as well as a caring community.

Currently reading: With a youngster in the home reading is limited, but I am listening to an audiobook, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. I enjoy watching documentaries of all kinds top three topics would be food, history and sharks. I have practiced Yoga for a little over 3 years now.

I look forward to meeting you!
